La Settimana Mediterranea - 1/2025
Una selezione delle letture più interessanti e utili della settimana su questioni mediterranee, locali e globali
Prima “Settimana Mediterranea” dell’anno nuovo. Questa settimana c’è una sezione speciale dedicata a Jimmy Carter, morto a 100 anni il 29 dicembre 2024. La sua presidenza ha avuto un ruolo fondamentale nel definire molte delle dinamiche mediterranee più importanti degli ultimi decenni, due su tutte: la fine dell’Egitto come minaccia militare per Israele con gli accordi di Camp David del 1978 e l’avvento dell’Iran khomeinista nel 1979, fattore di devastante mutamento sistemico per l’intero quadro dell’Asia occidentale, con annessa l’epocale crisi degli ostaggi, il cui impatto politico-psicologico ancora oggi si fa sentire sull’approccio americano verso Teheran.
Per il resto, la Siria resta al centro dell’attenzione delle principali potenze mondiali; la distruzione di Gaza pone questioni sulla viabilità delle formule diplomatiche ancora oggi al centro, almeno retoricamente, di eventuali negoziati; in Turchia la questione curda si sta riaprendo in maniera sorprendente; nel Maghreb e nel Sahel la tensione sale tra Algeria e molti dei vicini (Mali e Mauritania dopo la visita del Presidente Mohamed Ould Ghazouani in Marocco); la Russia cerca sponde (in tutti i sensi) in Libia; gli Emirati Arabi Uniti si dimostrano sempre più presenti nel continente africano.
